The Clyde River Hotel located in Island
Pond, Vermont was formerly known as the
"Essex Hotel."
Built in 1866 it remains basically as it was back then. The
Hotel itself straddles the Clyde River,
which is the outlet for Island Pond (the lake) whose banks are only
100 feet away from the front door of the hotel. It's
hard wood floors still have a fresh look shine to them, along with
the "Grand Room" the interior
looks as it did years ago.
The exterior of the hotel also remains for the most part as it did
during the days years ago when Island Pond was a very busy area.
The firstInternational Railroad Junction in the
United Stateswas
established here along with
lumber mills and factories
Stay at a Northern Vermont landmark - The Clyde River Hotel, located
in the charming and historic village of Island Pond Vermont. The
hotel enjoys a tradition of fine hospitality and has welcomed guests
since the 1860's.
HOW WE GOT INVOLVED:
The East Coast
Angels were contacted by Dana, a friend of the owners of the Hotel,
Dave and Dan Ditner. She had spent some time at the hotel,
and as an amateur ghost hunter had taken some interestiging photos
of the hotel. Photos showed orb anomalies, and what appeared
to be the shadow of a man on a wall in the hotel's Pub.
While
interviewing the Owners on the phone, Michael, East Coast Angels
Director, was
intrigued by the claims of activity, and arranged a time for a
Paranormal Investigation of the property. During the Interview
process it was discovered that although the Clients were in the
Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, they had originally come from the same
town as Michael, and Dan actually graduated the same high school,
only one year ahead of Michael. "We didn't really know each
other in High School, but something brought us together" we both
agreed.
So we packed up
our equipment, and our team hit the road to Vermont for a second
time.
The Ditner's
could not have been more gracious hosts, and we really enjoyed our
stay at The Clyde River Hotel, and Island Pond was a beautiful
little town close to the Canada boarder. The local population
was really excited to meet us, and ask questions. It was great
fun before the second night of investigating, half the town showed
up. Eric drew pictures for the Kids, Michael gave an mini
lecture, and answered questions for the teens. Sue introduced people
to some of the equipment we were using during the investigation.
It seemed like we all had our certain nitch. We were even able
to hand out some T-Shirts to some of the visitors.
We had a great
time, and hope you enjoy the evidence video of what we captured.
Our thanks to the Clyde River Hotel, staff, and friends for making
this a great experience for all....
IS THE CLYDE RIVER HOTEL HAUNTED?
We feel it is safe to say, "YES". There is
evidence of some residual energy, and also evidence of an
Intelligent Human Haunting as well. We feel the spirits there
are part of it's history, and mean no harm. A spirit release
ceremony was attempted, any spirits that wanted to pass to the other
side did, any that stayed, have stayed of their own free will, as
that is one of the gifts God has given to us all. FREE
WILL....
