5-26-09 — Paranormal Investigation of a private residence in Hartford County, CT.

History of the property

This home was built in 1879. Most records in the Town Hall have been lost. It is known that in the 1960s, the home was used as a two-family house. Both of the previous owners that resided in this home are deceased, and possibly had died on the property.

The current owners bought this home in 1992, and have stated that they had started experiencing paranormal activity upon moving in. The family renovated this home, and now have a tenant renting an apartment on the second floor. A previous tenant had resided in the apartment, but passed away due to a long illness. He had spent his last months living in the upstairs apartment. It is unknown if he passed on the way to the hospital, or at the hospital itself.

Upon moving into the home, the current family found a one-dollar Golden Eagle in the attic, dated 1879, the same year that the house was built. Some of the experiences that the family can recall are the smell of baking coming from the kitchen. The smell of cinnamon, or the smell of homemade chicken soup would fill the kitchen, and the stairs going up to the apartment. The clock radio would somehow turn itself on by itself in an upstairs computer room, and while working on the computer the homeowner would get the feeling of being watched. He would also see a shadow moving out of the corner of his eyes. A white mist would sometimes appear, and seemingly disappear. One night the homeowner saw an apparition of a female on the second floor, in a doorway. She was wearing a dress with gold trim and ripped lace. Startled by the vision, the homeowner turned away, and when he looked back about 3 seconds later, the apparition was gone. The family has some family pets, cats, and a dog. In certain areas of the home, the pets seem to watch the plain air, like they are seeing a person, or something else. The family pets will not go into the basement. At times the family dog will “flip out” and bark uncontrollably at nothing. The electrically wired doorbell would go off on its own. The family has heard footsteps on the stairwells. Most recently the lady of the house has felt that an unseen force had touched her, and had her hair tugged. The homeowner also reports feeling sick to his stomach after any short stay in the home’s attic.

In the apartment, the current resident has had similar experiences.

Interesting findings

During the family interview it was revealed that the homeowners had the ashes of recently departed loved ones in the house. Note: The paranormal activity had been going on for 10 years before the remains were brought into the home. We also received more details on the previous owners names, and the situation of the previous tenant that has passed.

The Investigation

Present for the investigation were ECAngels team members Sal, Vic, Tyler, Angel Sue, Angel Sarah, Angel Penny, Angel Rebecca, and Angel Kayla. The homeowners also participated in the investigation.

The Basement: During the investigation of the basement many photos of orbs were taken, as also 2 evps were captured on our digital recorders. Angel Sarah, felt extremely uncomfortable in the basement. During one of the EVP sessions, when we asked the spirit to make it’s presence known, Sal and two of the homeowners were overwhelmed with the smell of alcohol, possibly whiskey. It felt like someone who had been drinking all night was breathing in our face.

The Attic: While investigating the attic, several more orbs were caught on our digital cameras, and an evp, and a recording of a disembodied humming sound was also captured on our digital recorders. Investigators, and the homeowner also heard this humming. While in the attic the only reported personal experience was that Sal, became dizzy, and sick to his stomach for a short period of time, but went away upon leaving the attic area.

Living Areas: The living areas in the house yielded some more orb photos, but no other evidence.

This was a very eventful investigation, and it truly was a pleasure working with the family that has experienced so much. I am very pleased that we were able to capture some evidence for them. ECAngels does feel that this is a haunted location, and has all the elements for a non-threatening haunting. It is my theory that the previous tenant may still be there in spirit, as well as some of the previous owners. This is a beautiful old home, and the family knows that the ECAngels team is there for them if ever needed…
